For those who have never seen a sail's bill up close & personal, it is as rough as coarse sandpaper...bordering on a rasp. :eek: Gloves are often worn during the release. ~~Greg~~

A pound of dead shrimp would have been cheaper bait Wink And agree with the ouch on the bill contact.

Dead shrimp works inshore, & I have seen it catch hogfish offshore, but it would be a very long day before you got a sail to eat a dead shrimp. Big Grin

There's been more than one dead shrimp eaten by the fishermen around here. Trust me. Mudbugs work pretty good at the jetties during the crab closure too.
