it's been one great weekend, and it's only half done

I promise I will have some pics soon, but

1. We got a boat limit of snaps, and a nice Amberjack.

2. We answered a mayday from a boat that cracked his hull and the Rule 2000 pump (spare) we had saved his boat. That was one kewl drag race to get to him. 4 sportfishers, one crew boat and our boat all came to him within a few minutes of each other. The dude was smart, he kept broadcasting his position over and over, and that saved him. 50 miles out is a long ways from dry land. The other Bertram that beat us there, took all his passengers off his boat and onto theirs. The USCG was no where to be found.

3. A whale shark that was right at 35' long came to the boat yesterday, so close, we got to touch it. We got some great pics of that.

I am off to the deer lease, and with any luck back on line this evening via the satellite connect I have in the RV.

I couldn't find anyone that wanted to go to the bike ralley this weekend and stare at hardware and the best software Dupont makes, so we are taking the Bert and heading out. We found a bubble hole next to a ledge last time that was unreal. The seas are 1 foot with a 4 second period. It don't get any better than that. I will get some pics and such and post up when we get back on Saturday.

how'd you do with the storm... hope all is okay... we've been getting nailed off/on with heavy rains from the bands since this morning..

latest I heard on the Weather Channel they changed the target-landfall from Charleston.. hundred miles to our south... to the NC-SC border at Little River Inlet..like they always do.. that's less than 3 miles away as the 'ducks fly' from our hacienda...

Ernie-baby.. a/k/a Ernesto.. as of yesterday was targeting Charleston as it's next landfall... NOT.. as I knew it would and just had to be it's Myrtle Beach instead... and check out the red target area... right over our back yard on the SC-NC border at Little River Inlet..... hope the new satellite dish holds up...

and Greg's house too. I have only had that happen once, and it was very strange. Everything completely stopped for about and hour and then it came out of the opposite direction.

As I said before, I got to spend the day fishing with a grouper that I had not met before. Jack Hexter was a good crew member and gentleman we caught our limits (counting the ones that we released looking for a #40 like my friend Ed caught the day before I arrived) We had a little excitment as a boat was sinking in our area and we responded to help, only to find that someone had already removed the guys from the sinking boat. In true grouper fashion we resumed fishing about fity ysrds from the accident and proceeded to get a double hook-up within site of the victims of the mishap and the guys that were losing their day of fishing by being the savers. Jack is going to tell you some bogus story about my netting ability. It's not true, I meant to knock that fish off on the first try. Regretably it took me three tries before I could knock it off:p When he finally gets back to post his side of the story ask him about the #12 downrigger ball that he threw overboard because he was done using it for the day:confused: Life is good and I finally finished with the vacuum sealing and the smoking. This food gathering can be hard workSmile.

Monty, the web site looks really good and we foregive you for the lost posts. Please note that I feel cramped in a 24' boat but I hope you guy enjoy your yaks.
